This week marks the beginning of the Academic Year 2013/21014. With this comes a new year for the mountaineering club with many a new (and old) mountain to master, many a lesson to learn and many a skill to acquire, both within mountaineering and climbing.
As every year we were at the freshers fayre today and will be back there on Wednesday from 10am to 3pm.
Today we already met many interesting people who decided to sign up with us this year. We are very happy about the 40-odd members we already have on our mailing list and are looking forward to a great year with them all. Hopefully the number will grow a little more on Wednesday when we will be back for another round.
Our very first meeting will kick off on Wednesday, the 2nd of October at 1pm in M142. Though we will send out information to all members that we have the names of on our list if anybody else wants to join then feel free to come along to this meeting.
We will cover everything that is important for this year, including equipment, trips and safety. Further you will be able to sign up to our first trip of the year which will take place on Saturday, the 5th of September. This trip will be free of charge.
Again, we from the committee are looking forward to a great year with all members!

This blog contains the adventures of the Glasgow Caledonian University Mountaineering Club (GCUMC) and what we plan to do over the next few weeks. We go Climbing every week during university term time and every 2 weeks for Mountaineering Trips. At the end of each trip there will be a trip review alongside the photos taken on the trip.
