We are the committee and would like to welcome you to the mountaineering club!
This year we have lots of trips planned to get out among the Munros (and hopefully tick some off in the process), get out climbing (teaching for the first few weeks) and hopefully to make everyone feel welcome.
Here is some information about us and why we run the Mountaineering Club:
Name: Rico Fischer
Nationality: German (honorary Scot)
Age: 21
Position: Secretary
Joined the club because: I love climbing
You can ask me: Anything about the club, the activities we hold, what is up next or psychology. If I don’t know the answer I can still point you in to the right direction
Experience: six years of hiking, two years of climbing, one season of mountaineering
Name: Kristopher Ruddick
Age: 23
Position: Moneyman & driver
Joined the club because: I wanted to go higher and further, and the club literally helped me to do that.
You can ask me: About finances for the club, any other aspect of it or any training courses and funding available.
Experience: years beyond count of hiking, and two years serious mountaineering. I’m also a casual indoor climber.
Name: Thomas Carr
Age: 20
Position: President
Joined the club because: I wanted to continue to walk and climb while not interrupting my studies too much. I also love getting outside especially away from the hustle and bustle that is Glasgow.
You can ask me: Anything really, what we do, the structure of the club trips, suggestions for kit and where is best to buy it, how to read a map… etc
Experience: 10 - 15 years hill walking, 4 years mountaineering and 4 - 5 years (off and on) climbing.
We hope that you come to the meetings and enjoy your time in the Mountaineering Club and get as much out of it as we do.
